Rear interior plastic going back inI fitted the driver’s side rear plastic interior piece back into my car this afternoon. This picture shows how well my new speakers match up with the holes in the back seat.
I’ve made a lot of progress since the last pics, including some enclosure/baffles made out of 50$ worth of Dynamat. I’d consider that an optional step to this project, though. The speaker mount was a breeze and the new locations are pretty damn good. How I mounted 6×9s in my IntegraHere are a few pictures that show how I mounted Pioneer 6×9s in the rear speaker locations. I removed the factory speakers and the black plastic brackets that hold them. The speakers are secured by only 3 screws, but I’ve had them mounted for a week now and they’re still extremely tight. I’ve got lots more pictures to post, but I wanted to throw these up ASAP.
Putting 6×9s in your Integra is easyThe stock speakers in my 2-door Integra are 5 inch speakers that are stamped “MEXICO”. I’m replacing all of them. A lot of people claim these speakers are 5.5 or 6.5 inches. If you measure the speaker itself it’s hardly more than 5″. Including the rim the entire speaker assembly measures 6 and 1/8 inches. First, I’m going to put 6×9 inch speakers in the rear speaker positions (not the cargo tray!). A lot of forums make the project sound complex or even impossible. There are some modifications involved, but this is a fun project overall that uses only basic tools. During this modification, much of the interior behind the front seats must be removed. Learning this procedure allows you to access the rear speakers and all rear electronics. |
